Method Statement:
An attempt to re-connect with the spontaneity of music making in a computer dominated audiosphere. Tablehooter compositions are made with nothing more than some old Casio keyboards, a loop pedal, and a guitar. A conscious decision to eliminate visual and technical distractions from the creative flow means that no DAW's are employed in this compositional process and thus 'feel' and immediacy are elevated to prime position. Nothing must hinder the creative flow of the moment.
Every finished loop section is recorded onto an inline minidisc.
When the disc is full or the desire is sated, (whichever happens first), the captured loops are cropped, combined and cross-faded into a carefully chosen order, a kind of musical 'decoupage' if you will.
Each collection also has a strict duration limit imposed of no more than 20 minutes.
The resulting compositions or clusters have now become loosley themed musical journeys informed by the zeitgeist of the moment, snapshots in assemblage.
